ETH

Buy a domain with Ethereum

Ethereum (ETH) is the second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap and the backbone of DeFi, smart contracts, and NFTs. Unlike Bitcoin's pure store-of-value play, Ethereum powers programmable money—lending protocols, decentralized exchanges, DAO treasuries, and onchain applications that run without intermediaries. Privacy-wise, Ethereum is pseudonymous, not anonymous. Every transaction lives permanently on a public ledger. Your wallet address doesn't directly reveal your identity, but blockchain analytics firms (Chainalysis, Elliptic, TRM Labs) routinely trace flows between addresses, exchanges, and known entities. If you KYC'd on Coinbase or Binance, your ETH deposits and withdrawals are linkable to your passport. For genuine anonymity, mix through Tornado Cash alternatives (legal gray area post-sanctions), use privacy-focused chains for the final hop, or acquire ETH peer-to-peer with no paper trail. Regulatory status: Ethereum lives in uncertain territory. The SEC historically flirted with classifying it as a security, though current consensus treats it as a commodity like Bitcoin. Staking rewards, however, draw scrutiny—some argue proof-of-stake makes ETH look like an investment contract. Europe's MiCA framework regulates ETH exchanges and stablecoin issuers but doesn't ban the asset itself. China bans all crypto trading. Most offshore jurisdictions tolerate ETH payments for services. Using ETH for domain purchases at bunkerdomains is straightforward. We accept native ETH on Ethereum mainnet. No account signup required—paste your wallet address, send the exact amount to our deposit address, wait for confirmations, and your domain registers automatically. No credit card trail, no bank record, no WHOIS exposure unless you choose otherwise. Ethereum's ubiquity means you can acquire it on hundreds of exchanges, peer-to-peer platforms, or Bitcoin ATMs that swap BTC for ETH. For maximum privacy, buy ETH with cash locally, run your own node, and broadcast transactions over Tor.

Why ETH?

Universal liquidity—trade anywhere

ETH trades on every major exchange and most DEXs. Swap stablecoins, Bitcoin, or altcoins for ETH in seconds. Cash out to local currency in nearly any country. No exotic coin with thin order books—Ethereum is money you can actually spend or convert.

No bank, no chargeback risk

Credit cards allow buyers to dispute charges months later. Banks freeze accounts, flag 'suspicious' payments to offshore services, and report to tax authorities. ETH transactions are final after 12 confirmations. We receive payment, you receive domain—no intermediary can reverse it, no compliance officer can block it.

Pseudonymous by default

Wallet addresses are random strings. Link one to your identity only if you choose. We don't ask for email, phone, or ID. Pay from a fresh wallet, connect over Tor, and leave zero personal trail. Traditional registrars require credit cards tied to your legal name and home address.

Smart contract escrow (optional)

Advanced users can deploy an Ethereum escrow contract that releases payment only when DNS records prove domain transfer. Trustless, no human middleman. We don't currently require this—our reputation stands—but the option exists onchain for those who want programmatic guarantees.

Stablecoin on-ramps via Ethereum

Hold USDT or USDC on Ethereum to avoid ETH price volatility. Swap stablecoins for ETH in one transaction on Uniswap or your wallet's built-in DEX, then pay us. Lock in dollar-equivalent pricing without touching fiat rails.

Self-custody—your keys, your coins

Run MetaMask, Ledger hardware wallet, or a full Ethereum node. No exchange can freeze your balance, no government can seize funds held in your own wallet. When you control the private key, you control the money—and the ability to register domains anonymously anytime.

Step by step

  1. 1
    Search for your domain
Use our search tool to check availability. We support hundreds of TLDs. No signup required to browse. Prices display in USD equivalent; we calculate the ETH amount at checkout based on current exchange rate.
  2. 2
    Select Ethereum as payment method
Add domain to cart, proceed to checkout. Choose 'Ethereum (ETH)' from the crypto payment options. We'll generate a unique deposit address and display the exact ETH amount required, including network fee buffer.
  3. 3
    Send ETH from your wallet
Open MetaMask, Ledger Live, or your preferred Ethereum wallet. Paste our deposit address, enter the exact amount shown, and broadcast the transaction. Use standard gas settings—no need to overpay for speed unless the domain is about to be taken.
  4. 4
    Wait for blockchain confirmations
Ethereum transactions confirm in ~12 blocks (roughly 2-3 minutes under normal conditions). Our system monitors the blockchain automatically. Once your payment reaches the required confirmations, you'll see the order status update.
  5. 5
    Domain registers automatically
After confirmation, our backend triggers domain registration at the upstream registry. No human review, no business-hours delay. Registration completes within minutes for most TLDs. You'll receive nameserver details and EPP auth code via your optional contact method—or retrieve them from your dashboard if you created an anonymous account.
  6. 6
    Set nameservers or transfer out
Point the domain at your hosting provider's nameservers, configure DNS records in our control panel, or transfer the domain to another registrar using the EPP code. You own it outright. No lock-in, no forced upsells.
  7. 7
Renew with ETH when expiration approaches
We'll send renewal reminders to your contact method (email, XMPP, or Session ID) if provided. Pay the renewal invoice with ETH the same way. No auto-billing, no stored payment methods. You stay in control of recurring costs.

Fees & speed

Ethereum transaction fees (gas) fluctuate with network demand. During quiet periods, a simple ETH transfer costs $1-3 USD equivalent. When NFT drops or DeFi activity spikes, gas can surge to $20-50 for the same transaction. Check current gas prices on etherscan.io or your wallet's fee estimator before sending. Confirmation speed averages 2-3 minutes under normal conditions—Ethereum produces a block every ~12 seconds, and we require 12 confirmations for security. If the network is congested or you set gas too low, your transaction may pend for 10-20 minutes. Paying slightly above the 'standard' gas price ensures faster inclusion in the next block. Overpaying 2x standard gas rarely saves more than 30 seconds, so don't burn money for marginal speed. Reliability: Ethereum mainnet has operated continuously since 2015 with 99.99% uptime. The network survived The DAO hack, multiple DeFi exploits, and the transition from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake in 2022. Transactions finalize with cryptographic certainty—no chargeback risk, no bank holiday delays. Once confirmed, your payment is irreversible. Layer-2 solutions (Arbitrum, Optimism, Base) offer cheaper and faster transactions but aren't yet supported for domain payments here—most registrars and merchants still settle on Ethereum mainnet. If you hold ETH on an L2, bridge it back to mainnet before paying. Bridging adds 5-15 minutes and a small fee but can still be cheaper than a high-gas mainnet transaction if the network is expensive. We don't markup the ETH exchange rate. Our invoice amount reflects the mid-market rate from aggregated exchange APIs at the moment you check out, plus a 1-2% buffer to cover minor price fluctuations during confirmation time. If ETH pumps 5% while your transaction confirms, we eat the difference. If it dumps, you get the domain anyway—no surprise bills.
